I have always been impressed and curious by projection mapping technique, and always wanted to get my hand dirty in it. since people use lot of coding and complex software to generate visual graphics and mapping, i decided to explore several of those. BUT they are complex.
i rather decided to start my experiments with manual technique. i started using MODUL8 vj software to do perspective correction in projection, rest was all manual. i used 3d studio max for modeling real object and animation. i worked out projector’s position and angle of projection, replicated the same in 3d max with same dimension as real, did animation and projected back .. boom!!
but i hope to explore more in real time graphics and better animations soon….. see more images here>>
since a long time i wanted to built this one. i saw a prototype built by realfiction.com at NEXT exhibition and i loved it. a very simple technique, LCD screen mounted on the top, three sides of two way mirrors at 45 degree angle – reflecting the video displayed on the screen. originally it is a illusion technique used by magicians called pepper’s ghost effect.
right now i am building a small scale prototype to work with my macbook, using clear two way mirror glass or reflective clear glass. the key factor here is glass only, there are several kinds available, with tint and with various reflection values. choose the one with is almost clear and lower reflection value.
built with indexhibit ( something i would recommend to use for personal portfolio kind of website, open source CMS system makes website building as easy as blogs, dont accept super cool graphics, it has to be coded and u dont want that!!
Each floor/room was given over to a high-profile designer. We collaborated with architect, Kathryn Findlay, to make interactive installations that are the only integrated artworks in the hotel and will be a permanent part of the 8th floor lobby and corridors. Memory Wall shown here is integrated into the lobby space and interacts with individuals passing by.
